For to long we have ignored the workings of Congress. Members can retire with a full pension at the age of 62 after only completing 5 years of federal service. They vote themselves pay increases and we have no say in the matter. They specifically exempted themselves from laws they pass (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) and are only subject to disciplinary action by the house or senate ethics committees for violating our law while ordinary citizens must abide by the law or be subject to indictment and prosecution.
The majority follow their own agenda or the agenda of those who contribute to their campaigns for election and re-election. We the people have been ignored. Lost in the shuffle of corporate politics, political action committees, insurance companies, and labor unions. Who do they honestly represent? It has become very clear the majority no longer represent the people. We can no longer compete in a system that has become corrupt, one that is influenced by outside forces and not by the people.
They will vote on immigration reform possibly granting amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants. How will this help our country? It won't. It will contribute to increased unemployment and will increase the burden on federal programs and the American citizen will pay the price in more ways than one. If they are truly interested in helping the American citizen they should suspend and stop approving applications for visa's and green cards today. We need to stabilize our economy and employ our unemployed citizens before they allow the flow of immigration to continue.
It is time to send a message to Washington. A message that is clear and decisive. A message if ignored will be met by the wrath of the people. The self serving must stop, they must change their ways or they will be replaced by citizens who will truly represent the will of the people. One of the people for the people by the people.
Below is a rough copy of a letter addressed to congress.
Dear members of Congress, House and Senate,
We are troubled by your inability to work with the other side of the isle. Your inability to resolve the economic and employment problems in our country. Your actions clearly show you no longer represent the will of the people, but your own agenda or the agenda of corporations, labor unions, political action committee's and other outside forces. We demand you stop this behavior. We demand you work together to resolve the problems that plaque our country. We demand you work together and develop a plan to reduce our national debt. We demand you work together on a balanced budget amendment to keep government spending under control. We demand you work together and create a plan that will promote job creation in the private sector one that reduces the outsourcing of American jobs into foreign nations. We demand you devise a plan that addresses illegal immigration, a plan that does not include granting amnesty to the millions of illegal immigrants. We demand all proposed legislation will be disclosed to the people and debated in an open forum for which the people can understand the workings of the proposed legislation. We demand you approve the following proposed legislation and constitutional amendment.
Failure to comply with our request will result in the citizens holding special elections to replace any member who refuses to comply with will of the people.
We The People,
John Q Citizen
