Some Newsvine members attack those with different political philosophies.
Would you say you use any tactic to push your political points of view? It appears many do and some are rude, argumentative and obnoxious using slang words to insult people with different political beliefs. This is one of the reasons I changed my political affiliation and labeled myself as an independent or un-enrolled voter. It is a shame people can't discuss political subjects without attacking or falling victim to personal attacks or derogatory comments. The use of personal attacks and derogatory comments has become common practice for many but it doesn't have to be accepted or tolerated by others. Another point to consider, many may feel they can get away with this type of behavior in view of the fact that no one knows their true identity. They can say anything without fear of reprisal. What is the worse case scenario they are banned from the vine. Comments such as stupid idiot, you idiot, teanuts, teabaggers, nut, dumb, moron, demorat, democrap, republipuke, rightwinger, leftwinger, wing nut and etc. Those are some of the words used to intimidate and belittle others. Intimidation is a form of bullying. Everyone has the right to voice their opinion whether we agree with it or not and we don't have the right to belittle them if we disagree. It is acting like a toddler having a temper tantrum needing to get the last word in.
If you want to be treated with respect you have to treat people with respect. There are ways of getting your point across without attacking or belittling. It comes down to respect, accountability and personal responsibility. Integrity or the lack of. Apparently American's fall short on core values. I am proud to say I try to look at different political points of view objectively and don't resort to personal attacks if I disagree. Sometimes it is better to say I disagree and move on.
Please keep your comments clean, treat others with respect, refrain from using personal attacks or derogatory comments and use the terms democrats, republicans or independents. Thank you. Your thoughts are appreciated.
